FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRIDGE OF BOOKS FOUNDATION PROVIDED MORE THAN 1,300 BOOKS TO STUDENTS AT RED BANK PRE-K, PRIMARY
AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS

Seniors from Red Bank Regional High School volunteered to distribute the books to the Red Bank primary students.

(Red Bank, New Jersey)

Red Bank families came to the middle and primary schools in late August to pick up their back-to-school packets. In addition, students had the treat of selecting books to take home from more than 1,300 titles that included a selection of Spanish & bi-lingual books. The Bridge of Books’ (BoB) new Junior Council led by Red Bank Regional (RBR) High School Senior, Patrick Murray, recruited and organized fellow RBR students to volunteer at the book distributions and help younger students make their selections. Patrick’s mother, Susan Murray is a long-time Bridge of Books Board Member.

Emily Gagliano, a junior at Rumson-Fair Haven High School was on hand to document the event with photos. Her mom Cindy, is also a long-time board member.

Consistent with the BoB mission to provide ongoing support to underserved children, they have been donating books to Red Bank’s children since they began in 20021. Red Bank schools received one of their very first donations.

Dr. Jared Rummage, Superintendent of Red Bank’s Pre-K, Primary and Middle Schools, said “We are grateful for the ongoing support from Bridge of Books. It’s especially great to see so many Red Bank Regional High School volunteers supporting our young readers. You never know what book might inspire a BIG dream in a child.”

Patrick Murray said, “After working with Bridge of Books for a few months, I think the most consequential thing I have learned was the true impact books have on young children. People always talk about the importance of reading but until you hand a book to a child and see their smile and excitement, you don’t understand the true magnitude such a small thing can have on a child’s life.”

Founder and Executive Director of Bridge of Books Foundation, Abigail A. Daly, said, “Ongoing access to books is critical to establishing reading skills and paving the way to success in school and beyond. We are proud to be that conduit, working with schools and organizations in 21 counties in New Jersey and we are excited about the enthusiasm and support that was provided by RBR students during this event.”

You can support Bridge of Books by attending their Ladies Night Out Fundraiser on October 7, 2021, 7PM-10PM at Tommy’s Tavern & Tap in Sea Bright. Tickets can be purchased on the BoB website: bridgeofbooksfoundation.org.
