We are delighted to share the letter of gratitude received from our friends at the Early Childhood Education Department at New Brunswick Public Schools. Thanks to donations from our supporters, Bridge of Books was able to provide hundreds of bilingual and age appropriate books for distribution at the district’s various preschools and at their April 21st Early Childhood Fun Fair.
Like many districts throughout New Jersey, the New Brunswick Public Schools District serves a large number of disadvantaged households. Their Early Childhood Education Department works hard to encourage local three and four-year-old children to develop social competences, good health habits, effective problem-solving skills, creative expression and an enthusiasm for learning. Bridge of Books’ mission to provide an ongoing source of books to support the development of literacy skills and encourage a love of reading aligns perfectly with their mission. Early experiences with books and stories are linked to a child’s success in learning to read. The ability to read, and to read well, has a direct correlation to future life successes.
We look forward to continuing our support for New Brunswick Public Schools and to working with our partners and volunteers to get as many books as possible into the hands of New Jersey’s underserved children.
